Gardaí have renewed an appeal for information over a robbery and assault in a residential area of Letterkenny last weekend.

The attack occurred outside a house at Ard Lonan, Long Lane, where a man was hit with an iron bar and his car was stolen.

The man had been coming home from work in the early hours of Sunday when he was set upon at around 4.30am.

The keys to his silver Toyota Yaris (02 LH reg) were stolen and the offender drove off in the car up the Long Lane. The car was later found abandoned at around 6am in Kirkstown.

The victim managed to make his way to Letterkenny University Hospital where he received treatment for his injuries, which were not described as life-threatening.

Gardaí have revealed today that the suspect was wearing light coloured trousers and a dark top.

Anyone who observed a man of this description acting suspiciously in the Long Lane area, or if anyone saw the car in the hours following the incident, is asked to contact Letterkenny Garda Station on 0749167100 or freephone the Garda Confidential Line on 1800666111.
