Gardaí from the Roads Policing Units across Donegal are out on the roads this extended Bank Holiday weekend conducting speed checks and checkpoints.
Yesterday, Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit detected a vehicle travelling at 149kph in a 100kph speed zone.
Officers from the Buncrana Roads Policing Unit also detected a vehicle travelling at 140kph in a 100kph speed zone.
Fixed Charge Penalty Notices have been issued which will mean a fine of €80 and 3 penalty points for each driver.
A Garda spokesperson said “Save lives by slowing down this weekend and every time you make a journey.”
