Fintan Doherty started for the Republic of Ireland under-17 side yesterday as they drew 2-2 with Bulgaria but were eliminated from the Elite Round qualifiers.
The Letterkenny goalkeeper played as Ireland got their only point of the second round of qualifying in Portugal.
Ireland lost to Portugal and Finland but came from 2-0 down to salvage a draw against Bulgaria.
Rocco Vata, son of former Celtic player Rudi Vata got Ireland back in the tie while Sam Curtis of St. Patrick’s Athletic got the equaliser for Colin O’Brien’s side.
