Arranmore Island will be featured on Nationwide this evening (Friday 1st April) on RTÉ.

Nationwide airs at 7pm on RTÉ One and will detail the rising population on Arranmore Island.

The whole show is all about the Census ahead of Census day this coming Sunday as they visit the island and also visit the National Archives in Dublin who are the custodians of the Census papers.

Arranmore Island or Árainn Mhór, off the Donegal coast is expected to show a strong increase in population since the last census in 2016. Reporter Niall Martin has been to Arranmore to see why island life is so appealing to new residents.

The Harbour to Island regeneration project will feature. The project was awarded funding in 2019 and was established to transform the harbour at Burtonport, delivering improved infrastructure at the harbour as well as high quality shorefront amenity infrastructure on Árainn Mhór.
