Amber Barrett and Ciara Grant have been called up to the Republic of Ireland squad for their toughest test in their World Cup qualification group.
Barrett, who plays with 1. FC Köln in the Frauen Bundesliga will be looking for her 30th Ireland cap, while Letterkenny woman Grant, who is playing with Scottish Women’s Premier League leaders Rangers, has 13 appearance for the Girls in Green.
Vera Pauw’s side travel to Gothenburg to take on 2019 World Cup third-placed Sweden, who have won all five group games so far, on the 12th April.
Ireland sit second in the group with seven points after four games, which would have them qualify for the play-off semi-finals.
Finland are just 1 point behind Ireland in the group and would have been the second favourites behind Sweden to top the group.
Ireland, despite being underdogs, lost out in agonising circumstances to Sweden in the opening group fixture in Tallaght Stadium as a Louise Quinn own goal was the only thing to separate the two sides.
