A Donegal mum is appealing to people with fundraising ideas to consider her little girl, TJ.
Claire Mc Daid from Drumkeen, now living in Dublin, is raising funds for a life-saving operation for her 17-month-old baby girl, who was born with severe spina bifida meningocele, a permanently disabling birth defect. TJ is Claire and her partner Jay’s ‘miracle baby’ and they want to give her the best chance to walk.
The ‘Let’s Get TJ Walking’ campaign seeks to raise €100,000 for TJ to undergo intensive treatment in Hungary. She has been accepted by the Peto Institute in Budapest and is waiting on an appointment date this summer.

A community fundraising campaign has been ongoing since last autumn to support TJ’s journey, with generous donations coming in from Donegal, Dublin and across the country.
Claire and Jay are urging anyone who wants to do a good deed to consider hosting an event for TJ. Sponsorship cards are available and a new website has been set up by Dublin man Eamon O’Farrell to share TJ’s story.
Claire said: “Our Little Princess deserves this. If anyone wants to organise any fundraising please contact me or any family member. Big or small, all the help is needed to get TJ to Budapest in a few months. Thanks to everyone who has helped and donated so far really means a lot for our little angel to get the chance to walk and she will, little warrior.”
