Donegal Library Service is to provide FREE access to the Irish Newspaper Archives online in their library branches.
Providing a gateway to Ireland’s rich historical past, the archive consists of over 6 million pages of newspaper content from across the island of Ireland. And is the world’s largest online database of Irish newspapers.
This searchable database includes many of Ireland’s leading national, regional and out of print titles from the 1700s to the present day. – By viewing historical events through regional and national newspaper titles researchers will be able to compare the county view versus the city view of any given topic.
The newspaper obituaries also provide a wonderful genealogy source to retrieve and view births, deaths and marriage records from over 279 year’s worth of Irish publications
