ATU student Emma Dolan has picked up gold at the first Irish Karate inter-varsity championships hosted in UCD.

Dolan took home the gold in the Individual Kumite (Advanced Level) while her ATU Donegal teammate Hollie Marie Gallagher narrowly missed out on the finals.

Despite this, the girls picked up silver in the overall Team Kumite event.

Dolan is a member of Three Rivers Karate Club in Lifford, the only club in Donegal associated with the Irish governing body ONAKAI.

Emma achieved the success thanks to years of mentoring by coach Martin McNamee and she is now ranked 1st within the college fraternity and is hoping for big things in the future.
