Letterkenny man caught with cannabis and cocaine at house

April 7, 2022

A Letterkenny man has been fined €300 after a quantity of drugs was found at his home.

Darren McFeely appeared at Letterkenny District Court charged with possession of both cannabis and cocaine.

The court heard how Gardai carried out search of McFeely’s address at Thorndale, Letterkenny on October 24th, 2020.

They found €100 worth of cannabis and a further €700 worth of cocaine.

McFeely pleaded guilty to possession of the drugs and that they were for his own use and not for sale or supply.

Solicitor Frank Dorrian said his client has had addiction issues as a result of losses in his life.

However, he said his client, a qualified carpenter, is now drug-free mainly due to a return to the gym and a fitness regime.

Judge Alan Mitchell issued the Probation Act for the possession of cannabis but fined and convicted McFeely €300 for possession of cocaine.
