The fifth and sixth class pupils of St. Eunan’s NS Raphoe went the extra mile this month to raise a fantastic €1,153 for Mary’s Meals.
The students and their teacher George Simmons ran a marathon in the school throughout Lent.
They proudly donated the proceeds to Fr Eamonn Kelly, Chair of the Mary’s Meals Ireland Board.
A donation as big as €1,153 will go a long way for the international charity that serves nutritious school meals to children living in some of the world’s poorest countries. €18.30 is all it costs to feed a child for a whole school year.
Mary’s Meals is based on a simple solution to world hunger. Children are provided a daily meal in their place of education. A guaranteed meal for the day attracts a child to the classroom, where they can receive an education that could one day free them from poverty.
