A Ballybofey housing estate is to be taken over by Donegal County Council following a ten year campaign.

Members of the Lifford/Stranorlar Municipal committee will hear of the move at their next meeting.

Councillor Patrick McGowan has welcomed the update from the council.

Cllr McGowan said himself and his council colleagues have been pushing at every meeting for over ten years to get the roads and other infrastructure brought up to standard and last week saw the road resurfaced.

“Residents and owners have been understandably anxious over the years to get the estate finished so this is good news.

“I would like to thank Paddy Mullen and his team who worked with local members to ensure progress at all times,” he said.
