There will be heartbreaking scenes today when the funerals of two men killed in Sligo last week will take place.

The funeral of 41-year-old Aidan Moffitt will take place in the village of Lisacul in his home county of Roscommon at midday.

Mr Moffitt was well-known in Donegal through his career.

Meanwhile, the funeral of 58-year-old Michael Snee will be held in Ballytivnan in Sligo, also at midday.

Mr Moffitt was a prominent businessman and a Fine Gael activist while Mr Snee worked as a care assistant.

Large crowds are expected at the funerals of both men who were killed in horrific circumstances.

A 22-year-old man has been charged with their murders.
