A Donegal couple has filed the country’s first High Court case related to mica defective blocks.
The Irish Independent reports that Malin Head couple Liam Ó Dochartaigh and Grainne Bean Uí Dhochartaigh are taking action against Cassidy Brothers Concrete Products Limited, Donegal County Council and the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI).
The couple’s home was allegedly damaged as a result of defective blocks containing the destructive mineral. They are now seeking damages for alleged breach of contract, negligence and breach of duty.
The ‘pathfinder’ case, led by Coleman Legal, couple pave the way for a multitude of cases taken by families affected by the mica and pyrite defective block scandal.
