Former Tanaiste Mary Coughlan was part of a group of people who help rescue an abandoned fox cub found in Mountcharles yesterday.
This young fox was first spotted by a lady on Mountcharles Beach in the morning.
However, when the lady went back she could not locate the cub.
Luckily local man, Micky McLoughlin was on hand last night when he showed up again and together with former TD and local resident Mary Coughlan managed to recover the young animal.
The cub was then taken to the Animals in Need centre in Donegal Town to get some expert help.
The animal charity said that after a full day alone, the cub was very dull and dehydrated.
However, help and some liquid nourishment was on hand.
A spokesperson for AIN said “He was delighted with the bottle of puppy milk and livened up quickly with a full belly.
“He is now away to an experienced wild life rehab @dooletter_wildlife_rescue where he will be looked after until old enough for release.”
