A man who dropped his pants and roared at Gardai while drunk at a rowing regatta in Rathmullan has been fined.

Dermott Quinn appeared before Letterkennny District Court following the incident at Rathmullan Regatta on August 3rd last year.

His solicitor, Mr Ciaran Mac Lochlainn, said his client was very embarrassed by the incident.

The 23-year-old was at Kerr’s Bay at 1.24am when the incident occurred.

Gardai found Kerr, of Dunberry Hill, Bridgend, who had dropped his pants and was intoxicated.

Garda Sergeant Jim Collins told the court he was also shouting at passers-by.

When arrested Quinn began shouting at Gardai and refused to get into the Garda patrol car.

A Fixed Charge Penalty notice was issued to Kerr but it had not been paid.

Mr Mac Lochlainn said his client was an unemployed plasterer who had simply had far too much to drink.

Judge Deirdre Gearty fined Quinn €200.
