An investigation is underway after a home was broken into and ransacked in Milford town.

The incident occurred last Wednesday 4th May between 2.40pm and 9.15pm.

Entry was gained to a home in the Cúlglas area on the Kilmacrennan Road. Nothing was taken, but the house was ransacked, gardaí said.

Unfortunately, the door of the house was unlocked at the time.

Garda spokesperson Grainne Doherty has appealed to people to always secure their homes and make sure windows are closed and doors are locked if you are leaving for any length of time.

If anyone has any information in relation to the burglary, please contact Milford Garda Station on 0749153060

Home Security Advice from An Garda Síochána:

Whether you are at home or going out, remember to turn on some lights, use timer switches, lock all doors and windows, use an alarm, store keys away from windows and letter boxes, and don’t keep large amounts of cash or jewellery in the house.
