A 17-year-old girl who was injured in a collision near Lough Salt last week has died.

Tributes have been flowing in this evening for the young woman, named locally as Charlotte Kelly from Letterkenny.

Gardai have this evening confirmed her passing.

The collision, involving a single vehicle, happened on May 1 at Meenformal, Glen, Carrigart at approximately 9.15pm.

Ms Kelly had been taken to Letterkenny University Hospital with serious injuries but was then transferred to Beaumont Hospital.

There were three people in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Another person in the car was injured but their injuries were not life-threatening.

She is the fourth person to die on Donegal’s roads this year.

Tributes have been left on many social media sites for Ms Kelly who was a very popular and well-known young woman.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision to come forward.

Any road users who were travelling in the area at the time of the incident and who has camera (including dash cam) footage, is asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.

Anyone with information can contact Milford Garda Station on 074 9153060, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
