CAO Spotlight Series: Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Donegal continues to expand and grow by developing degree programmes that meet the needs of this unique region and beyond. 

Over the course of this week, Donegal Daily will profile and feature the latest and newest CAO degree programme offerings available at ATU Donegal. Readers can deep dive into all of the new courses that have been added to the ATU Donegal CAO 2022 offerings. 

ATU Donegal’s lecturers and academic staff will profile these programmes and provide you with an insight into the latest programme offerings available at ATU Donegal. The CAO ‘Change-of-Mind’ facility is now open and applicants who wish to explore their CAO choices and options, have until 1 July to review their degree programme options, for free.

Day 1: “What’s New at ATU Donegal – Department of Business Studies Update!”

You can never go wrong if you study a degree in Business! ATU Donegal has added an optional one-year work placement to three out of four of the department’s CAO degree programmes! Listen as ATU Donegal Lecturer Sarah Diffley walks you through all of the amazing updates to the following business degree programmes; BBs (Hons) in Accounting, BBs (Hons) in Business, BBs (Hons) in Marketing with Online Technologies. If you’re not sure which area you want to specialise in, why not check out the BBs in Business (Common Entry) which gives learners a two-year taster of all of the above courses. 

Day 2: “What’s New at ATU Donegal – New Tourism Courses!”

Grab yourself a licence to travel with the two new, exciting degrees in tourism and hospitality. ATU Donegal Lecturer, Rosemary Dewhirst talks to you about what to expect to learn in the brand new BA (Hons) Hospitality Management and BA Tourism & Hospitality Operations along with where these degrees can take you in the future. One really exciting update is that these courses will be delivered from the ATU Donegal, Letterkenny campus this September.

Day 3: “What’s New at ATU Donegal – New Degree Programmes in Sports!”

Sport and exercise are critical for health and performance and there is high demand for graduates with the ability to deliver rehabilitation at all levels of sport and physical activity. ATU Lecturer in Sport, Neil Barrett will walk us through the brand new degree courses in sports at ATU Donegal; the level 8 BSc (Hons) Athletic Therapy and Exercise Rehabilitation and the level 7 BSc Sports and Exercise.

Day 4: “What’s New at ATU Donegal – New Special Needs Assistance Degree Course!”

The BSc Inclusive Practice for Special Needs Assistance is one of a kind in the northwest where this degree will qualify graduates to not only work in primary and post-primary education as a Special Needs Assistant but will also allow them to integrate the learnings into social care settings. ATU Lecturer, Patricia Redmond delves into why this course is an ideal choice for incoming CAO students.

Day 5: “What’s New at ATU Donegal – New Degree in CyberPsychology!”

Ever wondered why apps feel almost addictive? Or, considered the psychology behind online dating? Well, the BSc (Hons) in Cyberpsychology is right up your street! This new, innovative degree sits at the intersection between human interaction, technology, and design. Dr. Lydia Devenney, ATU Donegal Lecturer and CyberPsychology expert gives a quick overview of the amazing topics you’ll cover as part of the new degree programme.

Day 6: “What’s New at ATU Donegal – New Degree in Electric Vehicle Engineering!”

Designed in conjunction with Hyundai, the brand new level 7 BEng in Electric Vehicle Engineering is a degree course at the cusp of innovation! According to the CSO, more than a fifth of all cars bought this year in Ireland was either fully electric or hybrid. All the more reason to get ahead of the trend and skill yourself in Electric Vehicle Engineering!
