A Sinn Fein TD says it is time for some ‘straight talking’ on bigotry and sectarianism among some sections of the Unionist community.
Deputy Padraig MacLochlainn was speaking after two men apologised for their involvement in a ‘sick’ video that appears to make fun of the murder of Michaela McAreavey in Mauritius.
The video went viral and has prompted an outcry across all of Ireland, with politicians condemning the horrible chanting.
It’s time for straight talking about this ugly bigotry, racism and sectarianism,” MacLochlainn said.
“It’s on the bonfires. It’s at the football matches. It’s at weddings. It’s in Orange Halls.
“It’s widespread. It has to stop. It can have no place in the future.”
