Students across Donegal will soon be sitting down to begin their Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied and Junior Cycle examinations today.
More than 2,100 students will be doing the Leaving Certificate, with a further 99 doing Leaving Cert Applied exams.
There are also approx 2,382 students sitting the Junior Certificate in Donegal.
Exams begin with English papers at both levels.
This year marks the full return of externally delivered examinations for all candidates. Last year, Leaving Certificate and Leaving Certificate Applied candidates were provided with the dual approach of examinations and accredited grades and in 2020 with calculated grades and later examinations.
A record number of candidates are due to sit examinations this year with the number of candidates exceeding 130,000.
However, Leaving Cert students begin today not knowing when their results will be out. The State Examinations Commission has said a number of significant factors are making it impossible to determine a results date at this stage.
