He might not be flavour of the month in Donegal after his comments about Michael Murphy but GAA pundit Colm O’Rourke still fancies Donegal to beat Armagh at Clones.
The former Meath player caused uproar when he suggested the Donegal captain wasn’t among the country’s best players in the past decade.
But in his RTE predictions column, O’Rourke says Donegal can get over the line – even they have any pride!
Describing it as the biggest game of the weekend, O’Rourke says “They would like to have gotten away from each other as they’ve already met in the opening round in Ulster. Donegal won that easily but they are now on a low after the loss to Derry.
“Armagh are now on a high after their big win over Tyrone last Sunday. Armagh are one of the teams I really like to watch as they play a very attractive brand of football. They don’t mind kicking the ball and Rian O’Neill has been a star for them. You then have Ethan Rafferty coming out of goals and scoring two points (against Armagh).
“If there’s a bit of pride left in Donegal at all you’d expect a big fightback from everybody on the team. They’ll be desperately disappointed with what happened in the Ulster final and so I’ll give Donegal another chance.”
