A ‘dangerously defective vehicle’ was taken off the road yesterday after an inspection by Buncrana Roads Policing Unit.
The driver was stopped initially for not wearing a seatbelt. Upon further inspection, the vehicle was found to be dangerously defective.
A garda spokesperson said: “The vehicle was seized and a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice will issue in relation to the seatbelt offence.
“Buncrana Roads Policing Unit also detected a vehicle being driven at 144KPH in a 100KPH speed zone earlier today.
“Always wear your seatbelt and ensure that your passengers are also wearing theirs. Slow down. Make road safety a priority. Do not make careless decisions when it comes to road safety. Careless decisions on the road can and often do lead to tragedy.”
