A popular Stranorlar doctor will this week hang up his stethoscope after 36 years service to the local community.
Dr Padraic Mitchell, a Galway native, has worked at the Millbrae Surgery practice since 1986.
He graduated from University College Galway 1981. He completed his General Practice Training in Galway before commencing work five years later at Millbrae Surgery.
He has seen and implemented many changes at Millbrae over the past 36 years. He has special interests in Diabetes, Respiratory Medicine, Sports Medicine, Minor Surgery, Travel Medicine and Medical Teaching.
His colleagues paid tribute to Dr Mitchell, a talented athlete, on their Facebook page.
“He has been a fantastic colleague and a great role model for all the GP trainees that have been trained under his watchful eye,” the post read.
“His patients and their families no doubt will miss him as he has cared for them and walked with them through their health journey down through the years. We at the Millbrae wish him every good wish and good health to enjoy his well deserved retirement.”
