An investigation is underway after the bodies of an elderly couple have been found in a home in a Tipperary.
Gardaí believe the bodies lay undiscovered for a considerable period of time, possibly since last year.
The Irish Independent reports that the couple, aged in their 70s, were originally from England. Locals thought that they had moved away during Covid-19.
Gardaí entered the home at Cloneen yesterday afternoon and made the discovery. Forensic examinations are underway and the State Pathologist has been notified.
The man and woman have not yet been formally identified. Dental records may be required to do so.
Gardaí say that the nature of their investigation will be determined by the findings of the post mortem.
