Summer Break

All our groups are now finishing up for the summer, in recent months it was great to get back to face to face work, we loved working with all our groups over the past few months from our toddlers right up to our lovely senior citizens.  We would like to wish all our kids and their families a very happy fun summer.

Community Garda Drop in

There will be no community Garda drop in for July but they will be back on Wednesday 17th August 2022, if you need any forms/passports signed or need some advice, save the date in your diary!

Autumn /winter courses

RTE Toyshow Appeal

Raphoe Family Resource Centre is delighted to announce that we have been awarded a grant of €6520.00 by the RTE Toy Show. This grant will be a huge help in providing wrap around supports that enhances children’s social, emotional and learning needs in our community. 

Thank you to all those that contributed to the Late Late Toy Show appeal and Community Foundation of Ireland.

S.T.A.R.T Project

Would you like to talk to someone about your concerns around drugs/alcohol? Free, confidential – non-judgemental service providing up to date information and practical supports, including CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness practices, Brief Solution Focus Therapy and the Smart Recovery Principles. Drop in Group/Individuals every Monday 10am-12pm in the Raphoe Family Resource Centre. Letterkenny C.D.P is a community Development Project providing a Community Response to Alcohol/Drug misuse throughout Co. Donegal. We provide non-judgemental support guidance and education to drug/alcohol users, their families and the community. Contact our Outreach worker for the Finn Valley area, Karen Gallen on 087 388 5080

Alone

ALONE is an organisation that enables older people to age at home.
I recruit, train and support Volunteers for our Telephone Support and the Visitation and Befriending Service, which is where a volunteer gives an hour a week of their time to provide companionship to an Older Person either in person, or over the phone. We currently have many older people across Donegal in need of our services.

Would you be willing to provide companionship or be able to make calls to Older People once a week? ALONE are seeking volunteers all over Donegal.

Programme Facilitators

We are looking to add to our list of programme facilitators particularly for children and young people in areas such as music, yoga, crafts and messy play. Please get in touch via email info@raphoefrc.ie or WhatsApp!

Breakout Raphoe

Breakout every Thursday from 4 – 6PM in the Family Resource Centre. We are delighted to welcome new and existing members to our new Raphoe group.  A safe place for LGBTIQ+ young people and their friends.  To book contact breakout@donegalyouthservice.ie /Pearl Johnston 0860776813.  Raphoe Family Resource Centre offering a safe space onThursday nights for all LGBTIQ+ young people and their friends!

Raphoe Boxing Club

The local boxing club will have 2 boxers entered for the forthcoming National Senior Cadet Championships light flyweight kingpin Rian Patton and standout featherweight puncher Ryley Doherty and these championships will get underway on Friday 1st July in the National Stadium Dublin. Good wishes for every success lads from all your club-mates and coaches. The officers of the boxing club would like to tender a sincere thanks to Martin Laird and all his crew at the Raphoe Tidy Towns for all the excellent work they do inside and outside the boxing club and a sincere thanks goes out to all the staff at the Raphoe Family Resource Centre for all their kind help with many bits and bobs for the boxing club that is greatly appreciated by all at the club. 

Raphoe Walking Group 

Raphoe Walking Group meet every Thursday morning at 10.30am, here in the FRC.  Come along and join the group for a walk and a cuppa!!

Family Support 

As a parent or guardian, parenting is one of the most rewarding things you will ever do, however the Family Resource Centre recognises at times life throws up challenges and these can be overwhelming.  Some examples of the support we can offer; making routines, establishing boundaries and dealing with challenging behaviours 

The Family Resource Centre can help through listening ear, parenting programmes, one to one support, and a drop-in clinic to offer support on issues that are affecting home life.

Seniors Alert Scheme

Raphoe Family Resource Centre is registered under Pobal’s Senior Alert Scheme to provide personal alarms to those over 65 years living alone for significant periods of time during the day, or is a carer to someone else in their household. The purpose of the scheme is to enable older persons of limited means to continue to live securely in their own homes with confidence, independence and peace of mind providing them with a personal monitored alarm which can be worn as a pendant or around their wrist like a watch. If you feel you or someone you know would benefit from this scheme please contact us on (074) 9145796 or 0873641503 for more information or to make an application.

Helping Hands Scheme

Do you live alone or are no longer in a position, due to age or disability, to carry out odd jobs? Raphoe Family Resource Centre, supported by DLDC Tus Scheme have a helping hands project were odd jobs can be carried out such as grass cutting, path clearing, tidy ups, painting etc. Only outdoor work is permitted.
