Children invited to make a splash as Greencastle Coast Guard Cadets

The Greencastle Coast Guard is hosting cadet training this August for children to learn about water safety and marine life through fun and games.

The programme takes place as part of Greencastle Regatta and Festival at Greencastle Community Centre on Saturday 6th August 2022.

A spokesperson said: “This year we have teamed up with the Loughs Agency‘s educational department who will be bringing along their amazing interactive touch tank. You will be able to learn all about local marine animals, flora and fauna.

“The age range is strictly 5-12 years old. Parents must be in attendance to supervise their own children. There are limited spaces available so booking is essential.”

Through cadet training, participants will try out and learn about skills such as throwing a life ring, CPR, lifejackets, teamwork, communication, and water safety through fun and exciting activities.

Once the circuit of games are completed, each child will become an official ‘Greencastle Unit Cadet’. They will then be able raise awareness about water safety and Coast Guard work in the community to keep everyone safe.

PLEASE EMAIL YOUR CHILD / CHILDREN’S NAMES AND AGES TO – greencastleunit@hotmail.com
This is required for the certificates.
