Man killed in crash on main Letterkenny to Derry road overnight

An elderly man has been killed following a crash on the main N13 road between Letterkenny and Derry.

The victim, who is understood to be in his 70s, was from the Letterkenny area.

He was believed to be driving a small van.

Three vehicles were involved in the crash which happened around 11pm last night between Newtowncunningham and Manorcunningham near Sharon Glebe.

Garda forensics investigators are en route to the scene and a section of the road has been closed.

The second person involved in the crash, a man in his 40s, was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital.

However, their injuries are not understood to be serious.
