Gardai in Carndonagh got a surprise this week when they stopped a vehicle and found its tax had expired almost 9 years ago.

Officers stopped the vehicle and using the Active Mobility App checked the last date the tax had been paid on the vehicle.

The computer showed that the vehicle had last been taxed a whopping 3,204 days ago.

Gardai immediately seized the black hatchback car from its owner.

A Garda spokesman said a court appearance will now follow for the owner.

The spokesperson added “Please ensure that your documents such as your tax, insurance and NCT are up to date/in order before taking to the roads.”
