A Donegal Mountain Rescue Team (DMRT) member was enjoying a well earned break in Sligo yesterday when he got caught up in a major rescue there.
A casualty had fallen and sustained a lower leg injury on the eastern side of Benbulben.
The Sligo Leitrim Mountain Rescue Team (SLMRT) was tasked by the National Ambulance Service (NAS).
Luckily, a member of DMRT happened to be hiking in the area and was able to reassure and keep the casualty comfortable until the Sligo team arrived on scene.
“We brought the casualty down by stretcher to the awaiting NAS who transported the casualty to Sligo University hospital for further treatment,” a SLMRT spokesperson said.
“We wish the casualty a speedy recovery. We want to thank our colleague from the Donegal Mountain Rescue Team for his assistance today and also NAS.”
