Gardaí and Spanish police launched a raid in Lanzarote this week as part of an ongoing probe into organised crime gangs.
On Tuesday morning, a team of Irish detectives searched the residence of an Irish citizen residing in the Canary Islands who is suspected of involvement in an organised crime gang based in Spain.
The Irish Independent reports that no arrests were reported from the search, but it’s believed that a number of electronic devices were seized for examination.
The search was a joint effort by An Garda Síochána and the Central Intelligence Unit of the Spanish Guardia Civil police force with the assistance of the Grupo de Informacion de Las Palmas (Regional Intelligence Unit of Las Palmas). Gardaí said that the operation in Spain reflects its ongoing commitment to tackle international organised crime gangs in conjunction with European partner services.
