Families must be consulted on Cleary Centre design – Pringle

Deputy Thomas Pringle has called on the HSE to ensure service users and families are consulted in the design phase for the new Cleary Centre in Donegal Town.

Deputy Pringle said: “The commitment and campaigning of families over these past years has been a big part of bringing the project to the stage it’s at now. Families and service users must be involved in and consulted in the design and planning process of the new development to ensure it’s fit for purpose.”

In response to a parliamentary question from Deputy Pringle, the HSE confirmed that capital funding of €100,000 has been allocated to progress the design for the new intellectual disability adult day services facility at the Cleary Centre in 2022.

The allocation will enable Capital & Estates to appoint a design team and progress a scheme design this year, the HSE said.

Deputy Pringle said: “I welcome movement on this very important project. Service users and families have been waiting and working toward this for a long time, and it’s important that they are consulted in the design and planning phase and their views are taken on board.”
