An Annagry woman is about to embark on a special challenge this July in loving memory of her late husband.

Maeve King’s beloved husband Joe passed away from cancer in August 2020.

Since then, Maeve has channelled her grief into hiking and now wants to use her love for the outdoors to raise funds for the Donegal Hospice.

The hospice gave Joe, Maeve and their two daughters incredible comfort during Joe’s last few weeks, Maeve said: “I can’t describe the care and support that was given to Joe and to me and our girls. We are incredibly grateful to the wonderful staff and this is the only way I know of showing how much we appreciate their kindness.”

In celebration of Joe’s birthday on 23rd July, Maeve will hike the Seven Sisters mountains in Donegal and raise funds for the hospice.

The walk will start at the miner’s path at Muckish and end with Errigal taking in the five peaks in between.

Maeve continues, “ If anyone is feeling energetic you can meet me to climb Errigal. And if you’re not feeling energetic you can join us later in Leo’s. A huge thank you to Donegal Airport for sponsoring a prize for the night.”
