Gemma McGuinness scored her 5th goal of the season as Sligo Rovers were defeated 2-1 by Athlone.
The Greencastle native linked up with fellow Donegal woman Emma Doherty and when Doherty played it to McGuinness on the edge of the box, she made no mistake.
That gave Sligo the lead after just 8 minutes but they couldn’t hold their lead as Madison Gibson equalised on 20 minutes and Gillian Keenan won the game in the 86th minute as Athlone moved up to second.
Alana Doherty made her debut for the Sligo club in todays game.
Signed on a short term deal, the Clonmany woman is currently attending Oakland University on a Soccer Scholarship where she will return to at the end of the summer for her third season in America.
