Man arrested over fatal Raphoe collision released

A man was arrested today in relation to a fatal road crash in Raphoe in March.

The arrest was made as part of an investigation into a collision which took the life of local woman, Mary Theresa Hepburn.

The man, aged in his 50s, was detained for questioning at Letterkenny Garda Station this morning. He has since been released without charge. A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.’

No charges have been brought at this time, a garda spokesperson confirmed to Donegal Daily.

The investigation into the fatal collision on 2nd of March 2022 is ongoing. Mary Theresa Hepburn (née Peoples), a much-loved mother and grandmother, was out walking in Raphoe when she was struck by a vehicle that had lost control in a crash on Guesthouse End Road. She was rushed to Letterkenny University Hospital and was later transferred to Tallaght University Hospital where she passed away on Monday 7th March 2022.
