Gillespie Funeral Directors, a family-run service in Gaoth Dobhair, has closed.

Tribures have been paid to the dedicated undertakers, Eamonn and Colm, who served families with care, professionalism and dignity across Gaoth Dobhair, The Rosses, and throughout West Donegal.

The family issued an announcement this week to thank the community and their colleagues for the support over the years.

They said: “It is with a heavy heart, due to other work commitments, that we announce the ending of our funeral service. It has been an honour and a privilege to serve families in Gaoth Dobhair, The Rosses and West Donegal as a whole. We would like to thank all those families who placed their faith in us, to look after their loved ones funeral arrangements.

“We would like to thank in particular, An Sagart Pádraig Ó Baoighill, Sagart Paróiste Ghaoth Dobhair for all the advice and help down the years as well as; An tAthair Brian Ó Fearraigh, An tAthair Nigel Ó Gallachóir, Canon Michael Herrity, Monsignor Kevin Gillespie and Fr Seán Ó Gallchóir for their kindness and co-operation in arranging funeral masses. Special thanks to Tommy McGinty, Embalming Services in Letterkenny for his professionalism and co-operation. Thanks also to all the gravediggers for always showing extreme care and commitment to duty.

“Le mórmheas agus buíochas i gcónaí, Gillespie Funeral Directors”
