An Inishowen restauranteur is in the running for the title of ‘Donegal’s Best Boss today’ after letting his staff off to go to the beach.
Nancy’s Barn in Ballyliffin closed early today to make the most of the hottest day of the year.
It all started with a challenge. Chef Kieran Duey Doherty, owner of Nancy’s Barn, said everyone could have a beach day instead of working in the hot kitchen… only if customers agreed. Staff then took to Facebook to plead for ‘likes’ to secure their break. Within minutes, they had 2,000 votes.
It may be too warm for the award-winning chowder anyway, but customers loved the idea of the team getting a well-deserved break in the sunshine.
Chef Kieran said he was only too glad to close for the evening, adding: “If Carlsberg did the best staff!”
