The Astro Pitch and Walking track will complement the existing facilities at Ray Community Centre that include a woodland playground, tennis court and large Community Centre with numerous meeting rooms, a digital hub and industrial kitchen.“
“We would like to thank everyone for their support so far with our fundraising efforts. The new Astro Pitch and Walking Track will be a fantastic resource for the wider community.“ said Declan Meehan, Chairperson of Ray Community Group “We also have a number of other fundraising events coming up over the next few months, including a Come Dine With Me style event at the centre in October. The Ray Community Group have been allocated funding earlier this year from the Sports Capital Fund for a state of the art new Astro Pitch at the centre which is located between Ramelton and Rathmullan. However, due to the cost of building materials increasing the final cost of the project is now coming in at around €70,000 above the allocated grant.
The group have been running a number of different fundraising events over the summer to help make up the funding shortfall, from a walk and BBQ day, to a camping weekend, with many more exciting events taking place over the coming months.
Ray Community Centre is located just off the main road between Ramelton and Rathmullan and is just 20 minutes from Letterkenny.
