Residents in St Johnston have been told it will be at least 2025 before the National Broadband Ireland rural rollout service will reach their area.
A number of eager residents contacted the authority in a bid to find out when speeds of broadband in their area will be improved.
Residents currently use a number of private providers but they say speeds are very slow.
The residents received a response from the NBI network but it was not the response they had hoped for.
The NBI say a survey of the area has been completed.
However they stated “We estimate that the premises at Eircode XXXXXXXXX will be connected between January 2025 and December 2026.”
Angry residents have now contacted a number of local county councillors in a bid to speed up the process.
The residents say that some councillors said they were due to meet with NBI in September and they will raise the issue.
Meanwhile, one St Johnston resident said “The broadband in our area is a joke. If I want to watch a film I have to begin downloading in the morning to watch it at night.
“If this was happening in Dublin or even in Letterkenny there would be uproar. We pay our taxes too.”
