An elderly Donegal has been left intimidated after receiving a number of calls from a man claiming a note had been left on his car windscreen.
The man, who appeared to have an American accent, alleged that the note contained the landline number of the elderly man and related to an incident involving their cars.
Garda Niall Maguire says the man received three or four calls from the person.
He said the elderly man was not involved in any incident with another car and, given the amount of scams currently on the go, there may be a valid reason for the go, he urged people to be on alert.
“Given the amount of scams, I want to highlight this and advise people not to give out any information over the phone. Don’t interact with them, just hang up and contact us,” Garda Maguire said.
