Hundreds are expected to attend a major water safety event in Burtonport next weekend.

The Float for Hope Boat Run will take place on Saturday out of Burtonport Harbour.

The theme of this year’s event is based on water safety awareness.

It will involve live demonstrations from members from organisations such as: Irish Water Safety, The RNLI, The Donegal Coast Guard, The Swilly Seals, The CFFAM Arranmore, The Sheephaven Sub Aqua Club and The Rossess Snorkelling Club.

Volunteers and professionals will demonstrate different types of rescue techniques in the water and on the pier on the day. There will be advice and information available all day at Burtonport Pier on all aspects of water safety.

The event kicks off at 9am and will be on all day long. This is a great chance for members of the public to become more water safety conscious.
