Ryan Griffin will begin competing at the 18th edition of the 2022 FISU World University Championship Golf in Turin today (Wednesday 20th July).

The Ballybofey & Stranorlar golfer will take part in the team men competition against 14 other countries.

Griffin, who studies Marketing and Psychology at Maynooth Univeristy, will compete with his fellow university golfers Simon Walker (Roscommon GC) and Allan Hill (Athenry), set to begin at the Royal Park I Roveri at La Mandria now.

Meanwhile, his fellow B&S club member Barry McMenamin was representing Ulster at the U14 Boys’ Interprovincial title at Hilton Templepatrick.

After securing victories on Monday against Connacht and Munster, Leinster and Ulster went head-to-head for the title on Tuesday. The tie was closely fought but when Leinster pair Toby Murphy (Greystones) and William Walshe (Delgany) birdied the 18th to secure a half-point against the Ulster pairing of Barry McMenamin (Ballybofey & Stranorlar) and David Lyttle (Castlerock), Leinster could begin to breathe.

Adam Fahey (Seapoint) added another point shortly afterwards on the final green before Jack McKenna (Laytown & Bettystown) secured the win when he beat Massereene’s Scott McCabe 2&1.
