Mark English is set to compete at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon in the early hours of tomorrow morning.

The Finn Valley AC athlete joins a talented line up for the 800m heats on Day 6 at the World Championships at 1:20am (Thursday 21st July Irish Time).

At the 2019 edition of the World Championships in Doha, English came seventh in his heat and a time of 1:47.25.

The Finn Valley star has been busy since competing at the World Indoor Championships in March this year, building his performances to close in on his PB and National Senior Record time of 1:44.71.

English won the National 800m Championship title last month, just a week after setting his season best 1:46.02 at the Grand Prix in Madrid.

Meanwhile, in the men’s 400m semi-finals at 3:23am (Thursday 21st July Irish Time), Grange native and former Magh Ene College, Bundoran student Christopher O’Donnell looks to continue an incredible performance at the World Championships.

O’Donnell, who competed in the mixed 4x400m heats and semi-finals on day 1 of the championships, came fourth in his individual 400m heat with a time of 46.01. It was enough to secure one of the fastest qualification spots available, pushing him through to the semi-finals. O’Donnell has shown incredible form throughout 2022, setting his 400m PB of 45.26 only last month.
