Gardaí are investigating the tragic discovery of a body in the boot of a rental car in Kilkenny.
The discovery was made in Mullinavat on Monday by a woman who had rented a car, but noticed a smell shortly after picking up the vehicle.
The customer pulled over immediately and was shocked and distressed to find a corpse in the boot. Gardaí were called immediately.
The Irish Mirror reports that the body has been identified as a man in his 40s who was reported missing in Waterford two weeks ago. The search was stood down on Tuesday.
The company that supplied the vehicle is reportedly a self-service rental firm that allows customers to book and unlock cars through in-car technology.
