Termon ladies won the League final today with a comfortable eight point win over Glenfin in O’Donnell Park.

Termon included their County players in the squad for the game but Geraldine McLaughlin and Evelyn McGinley didn’t start, while none of Glenfin’s experienced trio of Bonner, Guthrie and Herron were included in the match-play squad.
Glenfin opened the scoring in the third minute with an Anna Maire McGlynn point from play and then had a great goal chance after a good move but Grainne Houston’s shot flew just wide of the post.
Glenfin would not score again in the first-half, shooting five wides and dropping a number of good chances short into the goalkeeper’s arms.
Termon were less wasteful but only managed to score three points, all from Ciara McGarvey, two from play and one from a free and they only kicked two wides.
Emer Gallagher went down injured and in some discomfort just before the break and there was a worry it could be a recurrence of her serious knee injury which kept her out for a year but thankfully it was a hamstring issue, much to everyone’s relief.
At half-time it was Termon 0-3 v 0-1 Glenfin.
Katie Long converted a free for Glenfin at the start of the second-half but Termon hit four quick points , two from the impressive Ciara McGarvey , and fine scores from Evelyn McGinley and Jodie McFadden to lead by five , 0-07 to 0-02.
Geraldine McLaughlin was sprung from the bench and within a few minutes cracked home the game’s first goal to put the game beyond Glenfin.
Termon added four more points, Ciara McGarvey got three of those for an excellent total of eight points.
Glenfin’s efforts were finally rewarded with a goal from Brenda Carr in the final minute to leave the final score 1-11 to 1-03 in Termon’s favour and the League title secured.
