A young Convoy man has reached the top of his career after being chosen to be the lead dancer in Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance.

Conor Rodgers recently achieved the latest accolade in his Irish Dancing career which continues to go from strength to strength.

Conor has been training for this role since before the Covid Pandemic, which shut the tour down for almost two years.

But the hard-working Donegal man put in the hours behind the scenes as he prepared for the biggest role of his life.

And he danced his first lead show in the Winter Gardens Theatre, Blackpool earlier this month in front of a packed house.

In the audience were many members of his family including proud parents Sharon and Michael.

He has become the first new lead in the show in over seven years and is looking forward to getting back on the European tour at the end of the summer.

Conor has won many titles during his competitive dancing career, culminating in winning the World Irish dance championships in North Carolina in 2019 under tuition from Mc Conomy Bradley Doherty School of Irish Dancing.

But being selected and trained by Michael Flatley for the role was the icing on the cake of Conor’s dance career to date.
