Driver caught speeding almost 30km/h over limit in Lifford

A speeding motorist was caught doing 87km/h in 60km/h yesterday in Lifford.

The detection was made on the R264 road at Lifford Common.

Gardaí report that it was the highest speed clocked in the zone on Monday.

An extensive speed surveillance operation is taking place this week to monitor Bank Holiday traffic. Garda road safety partners GoSafe monitored over 104,922 vehicles across the road network on Monday, with 484 drivers were detected for speeding and will be issued with Fixed Charge Notices.
