Residents living along the main Letterkenny to Churchill road claim it is only a matter of time before someone is killed following another serious accident on the road.
Walkers and motorists say the stretch of roadway at Keelogs needs to be examined following a series of near misses.
The latest accident happened last night when a car lost control and skidded off the road into a ditch.
Thankfully the driver of the car was uninjured but shaken following the accident around 7pm.
Local resident and businessman Karol Doherty said he wanted to highlight the issue saying it is “only a matter of time before someone is killed” on the road.
Mr Doherty and other locals used a tractor to take the car out of the ditch and ensured the driver was okay.
But he said this is a regular occurrence unfortunately.
He told Donegal Daily “Something needs to be done and it needs to be done quickly before someone is seriously hurt or killed.
“I have contacted the council and I hope they act quickly before someone is badly injured. This is the fourth accident in the past month. It has gone beyond a joke.
“I’m not sure what the problem with the road is. It may be a design issue or a surface issue but we are not imagining things because cars are going off this road regularly.
“As well as drivers there are lots of walkers out on this road and their lives are being put in danger.
“Something needs to be done and I am pleading with the council to act quickly and take a look at what needs to be done to stop cars coming off the road and people being injured.”
