Donegal recorded the wettest weather of July 2022, Met Eireann has revealed.

The north west saw much less of the summer weather enjoyed across the country, where the highest temperature of the month was 33C at Phoenix Park in Dublin on July 18.

July was warm and dry, especially in the South and East, with the Azores high dominating for most of the month.

Malin Head recorded the lowest mean temperatures of the month too at 14.7 °C. This was 0.3 °C above the long-term average.

Last month, Donegal recorded the wettest day compared to any other county. On 24th July, 24.8mm of rain fell at Finner. Malin Head and Finner saw 22 days of rain in total, with 66.3mm falling at Malin Head over the month.

Winds were not significantly strong in July, Met Eireann reports. Both the month’s highest gust and 10-minute mean wind speed were reported at Malin Head, Co Donegal on Monday 25th.
