Gardaí from Buncrana Roads Policing Unit arrested two motorists for suspected drug driving in the last 24 hours.
A garda spokesperson said they ‘had reason’ to stop a vehicle yesterday evening in relation to the manner in which it was being driven in the Redcastle area.
The driver tested positive for cocaine and cannabis. An arrest was made and the driver was charged to appear in court.
While operating a joint checkpoint with the Taxi Regulator in the Clonmany area last night a further arrest was made by Gardaí from Buncrana RPU when a driver tested positive for the same drugs.
The driver was charged.
“Please do not drive while under the influence,” a garda spokesperson said.
“Life is so precious and far too many lives are being lost on the roads. Always make responsible decisions as a driver and help save lives.”
