A boating shed in Greencastle was broken into and a large quantity of nautical equipment stolen.

The incident may have happened over the weekend but only came to light yesterday afternoon at 4pm.

The shed, which is located at the Shore Walk beside the marina in Greencastle, was targeted.

The thieves broke into the shed and stole a range of items.

The stolen haul includes steel anchors, wooden oars, steel lobster pots, buoys, trout nets and blue rope.

“This is a person’s livelihood and we would like to recover it for that person,” said a Garda spokesperson.

Anybody who has been offered such equipment for sale is asked to contact the Gardai in Buncrana.
